Sun Studios is pleased to announce a call for submissions for the Third Sun Studios Assistant Award and Exhibition.

This competition asks for a body of work to be submitted with Uniform as its theme. Please interpret this theme as you please.

Sun Studios will hold an exhibition of the finalists on the 9th June 2011, 6PM - 9PM. A selection of six finalists will be chosen by a panel of industry big wigs. The winner and runner up will be announced on the opening night.

The entry period opens on Monday 28th February and entries must be submitted before close of business on 13th May 2011.

Prizes include (total value of $10,000):

First Prize - Canon 7D body and Broncolor Senso 42 Flash Kit

Second Prize - Sun Studios will provide the runner up with a full day in studio with lighting and digital gear

A selection of images will be printed in monster children

SSAA&E 2011 Submission Guidelines

Deadline & Time frame:

To be eligible for the Sun Studios Australia Assistants Award and Exhibition 2011 work must be received by 13th May 2011 close of business 6pm.

The entry period opens Monday 28th February.

Finalists will be contacted by 27th May 2011. The winner and runner-up will be announced at the opening night of the exhibition, the date of the opening night  9th June 2011.

Finalist images will be exhibited as 20x24” Giclée prints in the Sun Studios Australia atrium for a period of one month.

Entry Requirements:

Entrants must be working as an assistant in the photographic industry.

This competition asks for a body of work to be submitted with “UNIFORM” as its theme. Please interpret this theme as you please. A body of work is 3 – 6 images.

All entries must be supplied on disc as both hi-res and lo-res images. See file specifications below.

All files must be labeled with photographers name and sequentially numbered.
e.g Joe Blogs_01.jpg   Joe Blogs_02.jpg

Disc should be labeled with entrants name and contact phone number.

All entries should be accompanied by 1 x A4 page listing photographers name and contact details, shot list with corresponding image titles/captions and a bio of up to 150 words.

File Specifications:

Lo-res    - RGB jpeg        10x12”    @ 72dpi
Hi-res    - RGB mac, tif    20 x 24”    @ 300dpi

Sun Studios Australia will provide the runner-up with a full day shoot in studio with lighting, and digital gear

A selection of finalist images will be printed in Monster Children.

Important notes:

The Sun Studios Assistants Award is an acquisition award. The winning collection of prints will remain the property of Sun Studios Australia to use for display in its collection of fine art prints.

Image Ownership
The photographer will retain the ownership of the image during the competition and future use. The photographer will be credited for any use of the image. Should Sun Studios require the use of images after the competition for publicity and promotion, Sun Studios will enter into an agreement with the photographer directly, on usage and price.

Sun Studios Australia may record the project for archival purposes. The intention of the archive is as a record of the activities undertaken and reference. Sun Studios Australia will secure the integrity of this information.

All copyright remains with the Assistant.

Sun Studios Australia reserves the right to reject submissions if the entrant does qualify as an assistant, the work is deemed inappropriate for display or the entry is not submitted correctly.

Sun Studios Australia reserves the right to reproduce for display any or all of the collection.

By submitting an entry the Assistant agrees to the terms and conditions of entry.
